1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using VeeTaxi's mobile application and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our services.

2. Service Description

VeeTaxi provides a technology platform that connects passengers with independent third-party drivers for transportation services. We are not a transportation company and do not provide transportation services directly.

3. Eligibility and Age Requirements

Our services are intended for users who are at least 18 years old. By using our services, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement
  • You are not prohibited from using our services under applicable law
  • You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations

4. User Registration and Account

To use our services, you must create an account and provide accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use
  • Providing valid payment information
  • Keeping your contact information up to date

5. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use our services for any unlawful or prohibited purpose, including but not limited to:

  • Transporting illegal substances or contraband
  • Engaging in any form of harassment or discrimination
  • Violating any applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfering with the proper functioning of our services
  • Using our services for commercial purposes without authorization

6. Location Services and Permissions

Location Access Required: By using VeeTaxi, you consent to the collection and use of your location data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Location Permissions: You grant VeeTaxi permission to access your device's location, including background location access, to provide ride-hailing services.

Location Data Usage: Your location data will be used to:

  • Find and match you with nearby drivers
  • Calculate accurate arrival times and routes
  • Track your ride in real-time for safety and security
  • Provide emergency location sharing capabilities
  • Improve our services and user experience

Background Location Access: When you grant background location permission, VeeTaxi may access your location even when the app is not actively in use to continue providing ride tracking and safety monitoring.

Location Data Retention: Location data is stored temporarily and securely. We do not retain your location data longer than necessary for service provision.

7. SMS Authentication and Automation

Automatic SMS Reading: To improve user experience during phone verification, the app may automatically read SMS messages containing verification codes.

SMS Permissions: On Android, we use Google's SMS Retriever API which doesn't require special SMS permissions. On iOS and other platforms, we use alternative methods such as clipboard monitoring.

Information Collected: We only collect the verification code from the SMS message and do not store or process other SMS content.

User Control: The feature can be disabled at any time through device settings or by choosing to manually enter verification codes.

8. Payment Terms

8.1 Payment Methods

You can pay your fare by credit card in the app, or in cash directly to the driver. In-app card payments are processed securely through a third-party payment provider; VeeTaxi does not store your full card details. The fare amount itself is set by the official regulated taxi meter (see 8.2) - the payment method does not change the price.

8.2 Pricing and Charges

Fares are set by the official, government-regulated taxi meter - there is no surge or demand-based pricing. Airport and fixed intercity routes use the regulated fixed tariff. Additional charges permitted by regulation (such as phone-order, luggage or waiting-time supplements) may apply.

8.3 Refunds and Cancellations

For card payments, eligible refunds are handled through the payment provider in accordance with applicable law. A cancellation fee may apply where permitted by the regulated taxi tariff - for example, if you cancel after the driver has already arrived.

8. Driver Requirements and Safety

All drivers on our platform must meet certain requirements including:

  • Valid driver's license and insurance
  • Background checks and vehicle inspections
  • Compliance with local regulations
  • Maintaining appropriate conduct standards

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VeeTaxi shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or use, arising out of or relating to your use of our services.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VeeTaxi, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of your use of our services or violation of these terms.

11. Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Our services may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control.

12. Emergency Procedures

In case of emergency during a ride:

  • Contact emergency services immediately (911)
  • Use our in-app emergency features if available
  • Report incidents to our support team
  • Follow all safety instructions provided

13. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our services will be resolved through binding arbitration, except for claims that may be brought in small claims court.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by applicable local laws without regard to conflict of law principles.

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes through our app or by email. Your continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

16. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
