Privacy Policy – VeeTaxi Rider App

This Privacy Policy explains how VeeTaxi collects, uses, stores and shares personal information relating to riders who use the app and website. Using the service constitutes acceptance of this policy.
1. Who controls your data
VeeTaxi, operating in Israel, is the Data Controller under the Protection of Privacy Law 5741-1981 ("the Privacy Law"). For privacy matters: privacy@veetaxi.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Name, email and profile photo from your social login (Google / Facebook / Apple).
- Verified mobile phone number (OTP).
- Ride needs (pet, luggage, accessibility, child seat) and destinations you enter.
- Messages you send in support chat or AI booking.
Collected automatically:
- Location: pickup, destination and live location during an active ride.
- Ride history: origin, destination, time, fare and the driver.
- Ratings and feedback you give.
- Device details: model, OS, app version and a unique identifier for notifications.
- Usage data: login times, errors and general usage patterns.
From third parties: Firebase phone verification for OTP (phone number only), your social login provider (basic profile, with your consent) and the payment provider (payment status/token - never your full card number).
3. Location data
We collect location to set your pickup, match you with a nearby driver, show live tracking and ETA, support safety and SOS, and resolve disputes.
- Live location is collected during an active ride. If you enable background location, it is used to keep tracking the trip and emergency sharing while the app is not in the foreground.
- Location data is not sold, not used for third-party advertising, and shared with authorities only where legally required.
- Historical location is kept for up to 90 days and then auto-deleted, unless a longer period is required for an active legal matter.
4. Biometric authentication
The app offers an optional device lock using fingerprint or face recognition. All biometric data stays only in your device's secure hardware; VeeTaxi never receives, processes or stores biometric data. The feature is optional and can be disabled at any time.
5. Bip&Talk – private communication
Bip&Talk enables voice, video and audio messages between you and your driver without revealing phone numbers. Both parties must consent; clips are stored encrypted (AES-256), auto-deleted after 30 days, and access is limited to the ride participants. VeeTaxi does not listen to or watch them unless required for an official complaint and in accordance with applicable law.
6. How we use your information
- Operating the service: identity verification, ride matching and account management.
- Safety: real-time trip monitoring and emergency assistance.
- Processing payments and resolving disputes.
- AI booking: processing your chat message to create the ride.
- Improving the service: aggregated, anonymous analytics only.
- Legal compliance and sending essential service messages.
7. Sharing with third parties
- The matched driver receives the trip-relevant details needed to complete the ride (pickup, destination, first name, needs).
- Service providers under contract: Firebase (auth), Mapbox (maps), our payment provider (card processing) and cloud hosting - processing data on our behalf only.
- Authorities - only where required by law.
- We do not sell your personal data.
8. Payments
Credit-card payments are processed by a regulated third-party payment provider; VeeTaxi does not store your full card number (only a secure token / last digits). Alternatively, you may pay the driver in cash. The fare is set by the regulated taxi meter.
9. Data retention
Account data is kept while your account is active; ride history and location per the periods above. You can request deletion (see your rights). Inactive accounts with no rides may be removed automatically.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may access, correct, delete, object to or restrict processing, receive a portable copy and withdraw consent. Contact privacy@veetaxi.com. You can also delete your account from within the app.
11. Data security
We apply encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, OTP/two-factor authentication and secure password handling. No method is 100% secure, but we use industry-standard measures.
12. GDPR – riders in the EU
Legal bases for processing: performance of a contract, consent, legitimate interest and legal obligation. You have rights of access, erasure, portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
13. Cookies and tracking
We use minimal cookies to remember preferences, measure usage and improve the service. You can control cookies in your browser or device settings.
14. Changes and contact

Visitors & cookies
If you only browse our website or app without signing in, we collect minimal data - your IP address and cookies used to remember your preferences, measure usage and improve the service. You can control cookies in your browser settings.
